Firefox 3.1 alpha released

June 19th, 2008

While users are still downloading the final version of Firefox 3.0 the developers are already working on 3.1, the final of which is expected in the end of the year. The first 3.1 alpha, called Shiretoko, can be downloaded from Mozilla servers.

In this version, based ot 1.9.1 core, are included some functions that were developed for Firefox 3 but later it was decided not to include them. These are tags autocompletion, tab preview by ctrl+tab, advanced search, download history, advanced update system. Firefox 3.1 will support XMLHttpRequest (XHR) too. This is an API which uses JavaScript and other script languages to transfer XML and other data between clients and servers.
